Our Story
How it all began…
For Krisanna, rescuing animals began in childhood when the garden plow tore through a mouse’s nest, leaving two orphaned babies. Feeding with an eyedropper, she successfully raised one until it was old enough to release.
For Nick, it began when he fell in love with this crazy, animal-loving lady in high school. Fast forward 15 years and they began fostering kittens for the animal shelter. Bottle babies and medical cases became their specialty.
In 2023, they bought their fixer-upper farm in Bon Aqua, TN and began adopting farm animals needing extra TLC and second chances.
How it’s going now…
In 2025, Nick and Krisanna officially founded their non-profit farm and rescue. Sitting on nearly 23 acres, Mellow Meadows hosts fields, forests, ponds, and wet-weather streams. They live here and care for many animals, including their rescue horses, goats, sheep, cats, and rabbits. They also continue to foster kitties for local animal shelters and humane societies.
It brings them joy to be able to share the animals and their stories with the community through visits, events, and educational opportunities, inspiring compassion for those who are different, or perhaps sometimes even thought of as “less than.”
Mellow Meadows is entirely volunteer run and donation funded. Every little bit of support goes directly to the animals for things such as feed, bedding, and medical care.
